Vietnam Airlines and IATA discuss about trial of IATA Travel Pass

According to Vietnam Airlines, on February 25, the airline had its first meeting with the International Air Transport Association (IATA) on the digital health credentials and trial of IATA Travel Pass.
IATA Travel Pass is a digital application that identifies each individual country's requirements for entry during the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring reliable test results of passengers as well as secure flow of necessary testing or vaccine information among governments, airlines, laboratories, and travellers.
The application can be operated on the mobiphone with many data such as what tests, vaccines and other measures required prior to travel; lists of authorized labs/test centers; storage of tests and vaccination results. The application helps to connect this information with governments and airlines to facilitate inspection and management.
To create a digital health profile, passengers integrate personal information from citizenship identification, identity card or passport, then enter flight information to find information about travel regulations. This profile will be linked to testing centers to receive results and update the status "Eligible" if the passengers are qualified. Passengers can share this status and test results with the airline through the application before boarding the airport or at the airport.
“The successful implementation of IATA Travel Pass in this trial with Singapore Airlines passengers demonstrates that technology can securely, conveniently and efficiently help travelers and governments to manage travel health credentials. The significance of this to re-starting international aviation cannot be overstated,” said Alexandre de Juniac, IATA’s Director General and CEO.
IATA Travel Pass is currently being experimented by more than 20 airlines, including Singapore Airlines, Qatar Airways... IATA Travel Pass has been successfully trialed by Singapore Airlines on first international flight from Singapore to London (UK) on March 17.
In the context of global COVID-19 pandemic declining, mass vaccine rollouts deploying in many countries, vaccine certification has been supported by many travel agencies and businesses. It is forecasted that digital health certification applications will become a global trend, giving countries more confidence in easing travel restrictions, recovering aviation, and promoting trade, economic development on the basis of ensuring COVID-19 prevention.
